To me it looks like the problem is the Windows machine
transfer rate. Is the Win 98 machines set for a LAN
connection? At 50K, it seems that it thinks it's
still using modem connection. There's also some Win
98 tweaking that can be done (MTU, etc.)

is one site you can go to automatically optimize your
settings.
