Here's my brief take on things:

1. 90% of all commercial (NON FREE) SW targets RH (Mandrake patterns
their structure after RH
so as to maintain as much compatability with this as possible).

2. SuSE and others have been working diligently toward LSB by
implementing it as much as
possible (though a moving target) with every release.

3. RH says they'll comply with the LSB (which means some significant
changes for them) by
2003/2004.

4. If Mandrake sides with United Linux (and therefore also the LSB),
they will no longer have
the RH compatability THEY DEPEND upon to run THE NON-FREE SW that RH caters
to (until 2003/2004).

This article and statement made by Mandrake is defintitely a marketing
SPIN by yet another
publically traded (albeit strangely traded) company that has to appease
a set of investors
who know nothing about what is RIGHT, but know how to make money (by any
means).

I trust what Mandrake says as much as I trust what RH says...
