That would be my first guess as well.

It may be a good idea for you to use an identd server.  There should be one 
with your RedHat distro by default, you'll just have to enable it in xinetd.d 
or xinetd.conf.  If it doesn't work, you may want to try an identd server 
capable of "faking" ident replies.
