You may look into Corel Office 2000. It comes with it's own linux distro and
is a complete package. To me, It feels more 'polished' than
openoffice/staroffice to date. It has more of the things you'd expect in a
professional office suite too (a full sized thesaurus, grammar editors,
professional grade footnote/endnotes, etc...) Its not free, but if your goal
is migrating an installed MS user base to a secure desktop and avoiding
microsoft timebased licenses, this is a more attractive finished package
today than the current open office or star office suites.
If you look around, I'm sure there a loads of Corel Suite 2000 for linux
still available for pennies of what it originally sold.
