I started a thread a couple of weeks ago about file transfers on my home
LAN, and how SCP was ungodly slow, and FTP was only marginally better.
Well, I have since set up a Samba share, and file transfers using Samba
are much better, 2200 kilobits/sec compared with 500 with FTP and around
50 with SCP.
Still not what I would expect with the hardware I have, but much better
nonetheless. I never would have thought that the SMB protocol would be
faster than FTP.
