Yes.  However there is also OpenEVMS (I think that's right?)... a recent 
newcomer
to LVM on Linux.  I know of at least one person who believes it to be 
much better
than the standard (well at least for SuSE since what seems like forever) 
LVM.

If you do any sysadmin on HPUX, you'll find the Linux LVM implementation
to be very familiar.
