as long as the bootloader image itself is on the first drive in the boot
sector (MBR), it should work fine.  Don't see why it wouldn't. 
LILO, points to a drive where to load the second half of the bootloader
is located, ie. /dev/hdb1

XP may have a problem giving up the boot sector (NT and 2K do, but there
are ways around it), but lilo should be fine.
