If your reason for dropping sendmail is only an issue with the config 
files I'd suggest taking a look at the admin interface in webmin.  I've 
been playing with webmin in a serious way over the last 6 mos and I'm 
very impressed.  The interface for sendmail is fairly well done and does 
eliminate the need to "vi" the files.

As far as MTAs go sendmail is hard to beat.  As an administrators 
nightmare it ranks right up there as well ;)
