OK - that proves it. The suggestion someone made to try to customize Mozilla
to fake the user-agent string doesn't work - it still identifies itself as 'Netscape'.
However, Opera works just fine. I had no problem accessing this dumb web page
that *insists* that it needs Internet Exploiter 5.0 or later - evidently Opera
(at least) has all the features it needs.
