[NTLUG:Discuss] Sound Cards and RH 7.3

I have successfully (for the most part) installed RH 7.3 on my PIV 1.8GHz box. 
Needless to say, this is the fastest I've ever seen a linux system boot up before.

I'm running a graphical login using Gnome as my desktop.  About the only
complaint I have right now is that I cannot seem to get my sound card working. 
I ran 'sndconfig' and it autodetected my sound card as a SB Live!, which is what
it is.  However, whenever I try to play a test soundfile, nothing comes out of
the speakers (and yes, they are hooked up correctly).

I turned on the "Sound Monitor" CApplet, and it will occasionally show that
sound is playing, but I'm not hearing anything at all.

I'm pretty sure I have ESD (the sound server, is that right?) running, but I'm
not sure.  If I run the hardware browser, it shows my sound device and shows
that it is using the EMU10K1 driver.

I would appreciate any help.
