There are defrag utilities for linux, but I have never
used one... I can't even say I know anybody who
defrags linux filesystems. Defrag utilities for linux
are a waste of time, due to the fact that Linux and
Unix filesystems fragment so much more slowly than
fat32 and NTFS. Personally, I wouldn't be so concerned
with performance issues from filesystem degradation
with Linux as you would with MS based operating
systems. In my experience, poor performance in Linux
is more likely to be the result of lack of memory or
hard drive space or both.
