[NTLUG:Discuss] Mounting and unmounting my CDROM's

I am running Mandrake 8.1.   I have an orginal ATAPI 50X CDROM which should
be hdb and a 20x/10x/40x CDRW that i installed later.  
I am having trouble mounting and unmounting the original 50x cdrom.  It won't mount most of the time.  When I have been able to mount it won't unmount.  

Hardrake show it twice.  Once as an IDE (/dev/hdb) and once as a SCSI device (/dev/scd0) and the CDRW is the same, once as hdc and then again as /dev/scd1.

My difficulty must be with my lack of understanding of mounting this device.

In Mandrake, right clicking on the desktop provides for auto mounting the FD or CDROM.  It will tell me that Nautilus is unable to mount the device.

Any help will be appreciated.
