First off, let me apologize.  I like MySQL, and use it for my personal 
stuff.  Didn't mean to imply that it's worthless, because it isn't.

The DBA's posting in the thread seem to cover it pretty well.

Lack of transactions, views and subselects seem to be at the heart of it.
