My bad again (been doing that a lot lately) - wording was just as you
suggest:
"access control disabled, clients can connect from any host"
and
"access control enabled, only authorized clients can connect"
Of course again, that is on the "client" and the messages on the "host"
were still
"xhost: unable to open display "10.50.3.60:0.0"
and there was no combination that allowed success.
