Our client is looking for a competent, articulate person to assume a
challenging role as a Tools & Testing Engineer for a series of
hardware/software based security solutions. Within this role, you will work
with the acting Manager of OS development as well as other engineers to help
build security software.
The Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and conducting
test procedures for company produced software products. A successful
engineer will participate in requirement reviews, design reviews, and
periodic code reviews. The engineer will also write test design
specifications, test case specifications, write test cases, execute test
cases, maintain test logs, and publish test results. Additional
responsibilities include, but are not limited to working with a bug tracking
system, analyzing test runs, verifying fixes, providing feedback in the
product design and specification process, along with using the product to
develop customer-focused test scenarios and real world applications.
Specific responsibilities will include operation of network testing
equipment (SmartBits) and operating applicable software such as SmartFlow &
SmartApplication.
As a Tools & Testing Engineer, you will carry out software testing issues to
closure. Responsibilities include:
- Perform black box testing of Check Point VPN-1/FW-1 software
- Verify code compliance against multiple user environments
- Reviewing software specifications
- Design and implement test plans and test matrices
- Provide detailed bug reports to the production development teams
- Work with engineering teams to troubleshoot configuration, performance
testing, reporting, remote management, and core competency areas of the
products
- Research functionality and implementation of automated testing methods
The ideal candidate will possess the following prioritized skill set:
- Bachelor's degree in technical related field or equivalent experience
- A profound understanding of low level networking including Ethernet &
TCP/IP
- Specific TCP/IP knowledge regarding ICMP & Routing
- Experience with Protocol Analysis software such as tcpdump, snoop, or
Ethereal etc.
- A profound understanding of Linux internals including kernel compilation,
file system manipulation, device driver installation & configuration, memory
management tools.
- A profound understanding of Perl
- An outstanding ability to break down and analyze the functionality of
software programs
- Thorough knowledge of testing applications and/or software components in
Linux environments
- 2+ years working in a commercial software application development
environment. Non-professional experience will be evaluated for desired
criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of practical security programs such as vulnerability
assessment tools
- Experience with security concepts such as authentication, authorization,
and ACLs
- Ability to work in a motivated, maturing, fast paced environment
- Ability to work both independently and collectively in a team environment
- Ability to proactively escalate risks of development milestones
- Willingness to work in a hectic environment where sometimes you have to
figure things out for yourself.
- A good understanding of the security market
