This is basically a new install, and all I plan on running on it is
Hylafax. I suppose I could live without a GUI or other interface.
The video problems could be due to EMI. I had the workstation sitting
right by it. I took the resolution down to 640*480*256.

This defeats the whole purpose of using Linux. The purpose was and still
is to use what I have without spending any money. And since this machine has
SIMM slots, the memory won't be that easy to come by. With all this
talk about how great Linux works on old hardware, I certainly expected a
better response than this.
I am a firm believer in having more memory, but my organization doesn't
have a lot of money. I am using donated equipment here.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war, neither in Russia, nor
England, nor for that matter Germany. That is understood. But after
all, it is leaders of the country who determine the policy; and it is
always a simple matter to drag people along, whether it is a
democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist
dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can be brought to the
bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them
they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of
patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same
in every country." --Hermann Goering at the 1946 Nuremburg Trials
