Chris,

I had a 386DX/33Mhz box that I ran with FVWM which did fine.  I used it 
as my mail and network (internal) service machine.  DNS, NIS, print 
server, etc.  I ran it in console mode unless I wanted to do some things 
that I wanted a GUI for and then just did a startx from the console.  It 
wasn't a speed burner but did the job.
