[NTLUG:Discuss] Red Hat on tour

Red Hat came to the Columbus area this evening. They were driving around
in an RV painted red, and it even had an IBM logo on it. It was quite
a sight.

The reps from Red Hat only talked for about a half hour. Then it was
open for questions and comments. I think everyone got a chance to speak.

It was a mix of some of the best professionals in town and some new
people. They asked if people were new to Linux or to Red Hat, and some
hands were raised. Most of the questions demonstrated a lot of
experience. But as one of the presenters said, "There are no stupid
questions."

These guys weren't salespeople. I think they really did want to hear
what we had to say and wanted our input. I mentioned to one that a lot
of users have been critical of most Red Hat x.0 distributions, and they
agreed that most of the x.0 distributions were really just betas.

These guys seemed like they were having a really good time. They gave
away some shirts, hats, and CD's. Most everyone seemed to enjoy the
presentation. There were about 100 people there.

When the Red Hat tour comes to town, don't miss it.

"Naturally, the common people don't want war, neither in Russia, nor
England, nor for that matter Germany. That is understood. But after
all, it is leaders of the country who determine the policy; and it is
always a simple matter to drag people along, whether it is a
democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist
dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can be brought to the
bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them
they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of
patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same
in every country." --Hermann Goering at the 1946 Nuremburg Trials
