I think you meant 20GB hard drive...?  Unlike Windows
you don't have to put all of the OS in single
partition (this is part of the learning curve).  There
are many different ways to partition for Linux
depending on how you intend to use it.  In your case
you probably will be using Linux for learning and
possible development.  The usual minimal partition
configuration for the workstation is a swap partition
size equal or greater than 2X the amount of your
memory a / (root) directory and boot directory. Red
Hat has all of the details on this:

Also make sure if decide to use your bootloader
(Bootit) that you install lilo on the / partition and
not the mbr.
