What I think is happening is that when you launch multiple copies of
Netscape - initially - there is no 'lock' file so the FIRST Netscape
starts up OK and creates the lock file. Then, when the second, third
and fourth Netscape's start up, they each complain about the existance
of the lock file.

Then, when you kill off all those copies, the last of them deletes
the lockfile it created - so when you look, it's not there. If you
had looked while the first of those Netscape copies was still running,
I think you'd have seen the lock file right there in '.netscape/lock'
in your home directory.

I think everything is working as it should *EXCEPT* that you are
starting multiple copies of Netscape - which is a No-No.

Netscape doesn't like being run more than once at the same time -
which is why it creates the lock file in the first place.

So, the whole lockfile business is NOT your problem. You just
need to figure out why you are launching so many copies in the
first place. When you fix that, I think the lockfile messages
will go away.
