We (Sterling Commerce) are messing around with Nagios right now
(NetSaint TNG).  It's a What's Up Gold on steroids.  Pretty nice
and easy to setup and use.

Cannot comment on OpenNMS.  Looked fairly difficult to setup
last time I looked into it.
