[NTLUG:Discuss] Upgrade 7.3 to 8.0

I am (on one of my boxes ) using Redhat 7.3 with
the Ximian desktop.

The Ximian Desktop is not Gnome2 compatible so
I had problems going from 7.3 to 8.0. I tried it
on a 'backup' partition and decided to stay with
7.3 for now.

RH 8.0 did tell me that there were some RPMs that
might not update correctly. I tried it anyway and
didn't like the results.

So... since RH 8.0 is Gnome2 and RH7.3 is Gnome1.4
you 'might' have a problem.

I did a FRESH install of 8.0 on another box and I
am pretty happy with it. The first time I tried to
update to mozilla 1.3a using RPM, I HOSED up my
rpm database and could not recover. I didn't feel
good about RH 8.0 at that point. ;( I re-installed
and installed some RPM updates that I found and
haven't had any problems with RH 8.0 and RPM since
then.
