I read the book for linux+ in about 3 days.  Some of the ideas in the book 
conflicted with what I have learned - I still have not taken the test so I 
do not know how hard/easy it is.  I am also researching both LPI and SAIR - 
unfortunately, SAIR is currently updating all of the tests so anything you 
do now may be expired quickly.  Last time I checked LPI - it was not that 
up to date (this may have change and I will be looking directly after 
hitting send).  I would prefer the LPI and/or SAIR get the material up to 
date quickly so that people won't have to re-certify.
