[NTLUG:Discuss] Gnome2 ready yet?

I have installed and am experimenting with a Debian dist on an old laptop 
(Pentium 133 mh , 16 mb ram, 1gb hd).  It is currently using 22% of the 1gb 
hd.  I am interested in building up to Gnome2 and Python2.  The only Gnome2 
is in the Unstable (versus Normal and Tested) section of the downloads.  My 
tendency is to stay away from "UNSTABLE" software but maybe I am being to 
conservative and actually unstable is OK for testing and experimenting.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom on this.
