I recently put RH 8.0 on a Sony Vaio - and I love it.
Everything worked right out of the install. DVD playback was a snap.
Modem worked. The install was extremely painless. I don't use
netscape, but openoffice was installed during the initial installation
and I haven't had any troubles getting to my banks website under galeon.
One thing you may want to consider is the KDE/Gnome thing that RH did in
8.0. Personally, I'm a Gnome/Ximian guy, so them messing with KDE
didn't bother me a bit.
