I am doing MP3 stuff on my RH 8.0 stuff. I just loaded some extra
things from
http://www.xmms.org/
and I had MP3 stuff running. NOTE: xmms craps out if you don't
have some audio thing from KDE installed on your system. It
mentions this error and the KDE thing you need to install to
make xmms work on that www.xms.org page.

As far as rpm goes, I trashed my system when I attempted to
add mozilla 1.3a to the system using RPM. The RPM database
was terminal. I restored my installation backup, added the
rpm rpm update from ftp://people.redhat.com/jbj/test-4.1
and was able to update mozialla to 1.3a. I haven't had any
rpm problems since. It's probably a good idea to backup
your rpm database frequently. Keep several good versions
around incase you need to restore an older copy for some
reason or another.
