this works for me on my RH8.0 box.
In the /etc/X11/XF86Config file I have:
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Mouse0"
Driver "mouse"
Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "yes"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Option "Resolution" "500"
EndSection
and it works fine with my microsoft wheel mouse.
I have a logitec optical wheel mouse that works with this
configureation on RH 7.3 and sometimes on RH8.0. Sometimes,
it just goes nuts and when you move it across the screen,
it starts doing mouse clicks. It's unusable when it does that.
