available to do just that, without getting all involved. Less fun, maybe.

Just to keep it slightly on-topic: You can go the other direction too,
converting X10 commands to IR signals (requires a different device, like a
Smartlink) and use IR emitters to direct the signals directly into the
devices. Then, you could control it all from a Linux box (doesn't HAVE to
be linux, but why not?) with an X10 serial to powerline dongle. You could
then get as complicated as you want. But for my home theater, I try to
keep it as simple as possible. It's already complicated enough that nobody
coming over wants to touch my remote...
