I think that you are asking whether there are any
Linux packages that act as an M$ server.  Well, yes
there is!  It is called samba (http://www.samba.org)  
It was designed to be a file/print server for Windoze
networks.  It also can emulate an NT domain
controller.  The setup is a bit tricky though, but
there's lot's of help.

  I would like to be able to avoid sending info to M$
after xp is 
registered.
