[NTLUG:Discuss] no more reiserfs

OK, I've had my fill of this POS.

Last night for the 2nd time in less than 6 months I had an entire
partition become toast!!! I don't have any idea what happened but on my
mail server I have a 2nd drive which gets ALL server controlled files
and it's simply gone.

Mount says invalid partition type and fsck -t reiserfs /dev/hbd1 simply
outputs the program name and stops. The -V option adds some other
program info but nothing about the drive condition.

I finally had to give up and begin to build a new disk. ALL of my
user's email is gone. I use that drive to keep upgraded rpms and
programs purchased and downloaded online to share across all of my
systems. That's gone. My mailing lists are stored on that drive.
That's gone. One list had well over 100 subscribers and another one was
approaching 50.

I just got a new tape drive a couple weeks ago and installed it in one
of my systems. Unfortunately I have not setup the software to run the
tape. So, no backup!!!

I'm going back to ext2. At least it is rock solid and I have NEVER lost
a partition with it. I don't need fast reboot since, as we all know,
you don't need to reboot linux. Seriously these machines stay up for
months at a time so I don't need that feature. At least not this bad!!

Venting done, thanks I needed that!!
