This system is stable. and the uptime before was 5 months (IIRC) with 
the Mandrake 8.2 install.  I'm reasonably sure that something I did in 
trying to get rid of some stale automount mount points had something to 
do with it.  I don't think it just vanished on it's own but I'm not 
happy about being able to have a superblock get lost like that.
