I changed my /etc/sysconfig/i18n file to be:
LANG="en_US"
SUPPORTED="en_US:en"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"
and that fixed some 'font' issues. I did this to get
Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0.5/6 to run. It also seemed to
clean up the man page garbage that I was seeing ( and
didn't really care about )
