Yes, it is. Thank you. It now runs like I want it to. I had forgotten about the
-c part.
To clarify a bit, this project is a hands-free add on to a small Windows-only
LAN. It has to be totally unobtrusive and have a very minimal amount of "fiddle
factor" by the operators, none of which care to know anything more than
clicking a mouse and crying for help when things don't go right. This is an
elegant solution to a couple of problems: what to do with a nasty old Packard
Bell piece of crap and how best to protect their network from the vast majority
of M$ viruses, most of which come in via email. With this method, the mail
client (evolution) is an Outlook look-alike in enough ways that its operation
is easily accepted by the ops, and I do not have to screw with setting up any
mail service on the linux box. No muss, no fuss. The vncviewer has an icon on
the Win desktops and vncserver is running on the linux box, which is now
running with no monitor, no keyboard and no mouse.... only a piece of cat-5
cable to the switch. It couldn't be simpler. The only extra that I might
consider is configuring a share directory for saving files (attachments), but
only if they really cry, because that would tend to defeat the purpose of
isolating their mail from their crummy operating system.
Thanks again,
Fred Stevens
