Hello all (and I do mean all),
NTLUG, Inc. was informed by thePlanet.com that our colocation service
arrangement through Bynari, Inc. has been terminated in an innovative way.
They unplugged our ethernet cable and waited for someone to call.
Unfortunately, when I called, the support person did not notice the "we need
to talk to some one about the contract on ntlug.org so we disconnected the
ethernet cable until they called us" flag. They rebooted (and replugged in
the ethernet cable). For some reason, on that reboot, mailman (our mailing
list server) did not start.
In summary, the reason for this message was to let people know that the
"unecessary re-boot" on Monday temporarily hosed all of our lists. They
should be back in service now (a secondary reason for the message is to
check).
Hopefully, we can make new colocation/hosting arrangements in time to prevent
any serious disruption of these services.
Rick Cook
