Hmmm, have you tried a hostname with just plain alpha
numeric characters?  Try changing the hostname and
then restarting lpd.  Also, are you certain you
configured the printer as local to the machine? I also
run RH 8 with a HP laserjet 4p locally attached and I
haven't seen this type of error, so I am curious to
see what the cause of the problem is.
