Actually 254 hosts. With a 24-bit mask 63.83.66.0 represents the subnet itself 
and 63.83.66.255 represents the broadcast address.

Depending on how an internal network is subnetted and routed, there may be
other host addresses that should be avoided, or used as only a last resort.
But that leads to a very deep and legthy discussion of subnet design...
