It's nothing to brag about if they bring rude ill-mannered behavior with
them. My point is "When in Rome, do as the Romans do". Texas culture places
strong values on both honor and politeness, and I personally feel that a
Texas-based list should reflect those values.

I'm not in Texas right now either, but I was born and raised there. And I
know that these cultural values are part of the reason that there *is* a tech
corridor in the North Dallas area. All those call-centers and tech-support
services up there are located there partly because in Texas there's a ready
supply of well-mannered workers.

It's not true here in LA, for example: customer service at all levels is
appalling: "Hey chill out dude, I just work here, what's your problem?". I'd
hate to think in light of this that my local LUG here in LA is more polite
and friendly than NTLUG is. But so far, it is. I'm a little disappointed by
that, and I'm hoping it's just a bad first impression. There've been some
interesting and useful threads, though, so I'm not giving up on it.

Cheers,
Terry
