Yes, most of us "old timers" :-) probably do live in the CLI; I do. Others
have posted valid reasons why, I'll add one more: I can type so much faster
than I can reach over and grab the mouse to point & click; but that's just me.

Yes, most of us probably do just ignore questions we don't have the answer to.
Rudeness is not intended, it's just why waste an email to say "I don't know."

Also, while I try to read my email from this group every day, sometimes I miss
a few days then have to catch up. I suspect I'm not the only one like that,
so patience is a virtue. :-)

It seems you're asking about GUI apps. Always ask; the worst you should get
is deafening silence because we're clueless about your problem too. OTOH,
while I live in a CLI world, I do use GUI apps and sometimes will have an
answer. If you want to know low-level X-window (or Xt or Xm) stuff, I and a
few others can probably help, but you and most people probably don't need to
go there. :-)

Pointer, if you want something more GUI for admining a machine and your distro
doesn't have anything you like, try getting and installing a package called
Webmin. It runs inside a browser and will allow you to admin most of the
common stuff fairly easily. I think every "newbie" from the ms-windows world
I've introduced it to has liked it.

HTH,
Kevin
