I got this note from Codeweavers and thought some of you may find it of
use. My Mandrake is running glibc 2.2.5 so I'll be checking out
Mandrake security as well.
I would really rather not have to break half of my system to cover this
one up!!

Folks,
I apologize for the intrusion on this channel, but this
is an important problem.
RedHat has provided a fix for glibc to address a
vulnerability. Unfortunately, they have chosen to do
this for the RedHat 8.0 platform by forcing an upgrade
from glibc 2.2.93 to 2.3.
They will offer you this upgrade the very next time
you run 'up2date' or the Red Hat Network update utility.
However, this completely breaks Wine, and therefore CrossOver.
So, if you apply this update, CrossOver will immediately
stop working. It may also affect other programs on
your system.
A complete description of the vulnerability is here:
https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2003-089.html
We have requested that RedHat change their fix to
supply a fix to 2.2.93 instead of shifting to 2.3.
I have a response from a high level source at RedHat, and
reason to believe they will address this shortly.
At this point, we recommend that folks read the
errata given above, and if the problem reported
is not a major concern, hold off on an upgrade.
We are planning to release CrossOver Office version
2.0 in the very near future, and it contains a fix
for the glibc 2.3 issues, so shortly this will
not be an issue.
Cheers,
Jeremy
