[NTLUG:Discuss] Device busy?

I'm having a dialup config issue. I am building a dual-boot
Dell Latitude CPx Laptop, Mandrake 8.2 to take on travel for
my company. I've found out the hard way that trying to talk
to our unix boxes using windows apps severely lowers my IQ.

Pcmcia modules are loaded, he comes up on the network ok,
but when I try connecting thru dialup, he bonks.

I installed wvdial, who gives pretty good feedback messages,
and wvdial told me:

[perl at aa040635 perl]$ wvdial
--> WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.42
--> Cannot open /dev/ttyS1: Device or resource busy
--> Cannot open /dev/ttyS1: Device or resource busy
--> Cannot open /dev/ttyS1: Device or resource busy

Maybe he was talking to his girlfriend? :-) I'm not sure how to find out
what might be busying the device or resource and unbusy it.
