Thanks for the response. I'm not sure how to answer
your question. I have a LinkSys router which ties two
wired computers and two wireless computers to the SBC
DSL modem and then to the phone line. I plan to
install Red Hat Linux 7.1 again or get a later
release. This time it will be on a Pentium 2-300 with
nothing else on that computer. It had been on a
separate HD earlier om a Pentium 3-550 with Windows on
another HD.
I have copies of How Tos for getting on to SBC DSL,
but they were written several years ago before DSL was
so common. The explanation seems more clomlex than
necessary. I hope there is a more straight forward
procedure now. There must be many with Linux on SBC
DSL now. I was online with an EarthLink 56k dailup
modem before I got DSL. Just now getting around to
trying to get on with Linux.
I will appreciate any advice you may give. BTW, I am
in Dallas and plan to go to the NTLUG meeting on April
19th to see if anyone there has advice on this. Have
noticed there seems to be the experts and the novices
at past meetings. The experts do seem reluctant to
share much information. Not exactly the warm fuzzy
reception. Would think they would be enthusiastic to
share their knowledge with the novices. Surely the
novices can't be much of a threat!
Thank you.
