[NTLUG:Discuss] Advanced Cable Modem?

Although I'd much rather have DSL, I've decided that considering all the 
factors (DSL requires a phone line and 1yr contract, etc.) cable modem 
service is a much better deal.  At least in my current situation.

I've decided to buy my own cable modem in order to avoid the monthly 
lease fee and it looks like I can get one from 3Com or Cisco that has 
advanced features like built-in VPN, firewall and connection sharing. 
Does anyone have any experience with these types of cable modems?  Any 
advice?
