1. try another program, e.g. "ls / > /tmp/ls.out" and see if that works.  set 
the time to fire to be 5 minutes from when you do this so you don't have to 
wait until tomorrow to see the results. :-)

2. what does /var/log/messages say?  anything useful?

3. try it as another user, or even as root, to see if it's a permissions thing 
(a variation of the question someone else posed about cron.allow & cron.deny).
