[NTLUG:Discuss] RH 8.0 LILO prompt?

The last time I used RH Linux it came up into the LILO prompt when I powered 
on and then if I hit TAB I would see the OS's that could be booted. Even if 
the only OS was Linux.

Now when I power up I never see LILO. I had wanted to get the LILO prompt 
and then do a 'linux single' to go to single user mode. Can anyone tell me:

1) Is it possible to get into LILO to do this (assuming it exists in 8.0)
2) Or is there a way to boot from a power down state to single user mode 
without LILO
