[NTLUG:Discuss] Knoppix!

I have looked into Knoppix before. It is well-crafted, but
unfortunately, I couldn't use it. I was given a Compaq Presario 5000 box
at work, with a lock on it!, that had XP and "approved corporate
applications" installed on it, with no access to bootable media. I am also
prohibited from modifying the hard drive installation. Needless to say,
it is just about useless to me at this point.

I was hoping for a Knoppix-like distribution that I could boot into.
I tried the c:\boot.ini trick, but it would not recognize the cd as a
loadable OS target. lodlin doesn't work with XP. I do have access to
writable media thru nfs, or bootp servers, for that matter.

      So... 2 questions:
1) Any way to get Linux up on this box? (I repeat, "No Access to bootable
media")
2) Anyone else fighting the Microsoft-Industrial Complex? (sorry, bad
paraphrase, but apt!)

Kyle
