I have upgraded one of my P-200 Compaq DP4000 computers and have tried
to install several versions
of Linux. My computer has 128 meg of RAM, 8Gig HD and an S3 Virge/GX
video card.

When installing Peanut or Vector I am gettng a " Data integrity error
when decompressing" message
and the install halts.

I have downloaded each several times, changed CD burners, checked
md5sums, and (on the Vector) run the bz2 check
during installation.

The compaq machine is setup as compaq recommends and the bios updated.

Anyone got any ideas why my install refuses to work.
