[NTLUG:Discuss] Cisco (console)?

Howdy,
   Since y'all knw what this cable is, maybe you know what I need.  I have 
a friend with a Cisco 1720 router for her small office.  The people who set 
it up left no software or manuals.  I found a basic setup manual on Csco's 
site, but it did not tell me how to set up the router.  I want to do a port 
redirect so that a couple of outside ports get redirected to some machines 
inside the lan where they will connect to VPN servers or SSH 
tunnels(something to protect the VNC session).  What do I need to get into 
the Cisco router?
