[NTLUG:Discuss] Monitor Unsync [might be OT]

Although it may seem a little offtopic I am not able to resist the
temptation to write this.
According to medical standards, a refresh rate of anything below 75Hz is
harmful for the eyes.
It causes strain on the eyes and increases chances for fatigue. Long
hours of staring at monitors (dosen't matter whether it is LCD or
normal) can also impair your eyesight after some years.
Hence Ralph, it would be great if you could increase that refresh rate
if possible :)). And yeah thanks for correcting to the fact that LCD
monitors can't be harmed by having set them on lower refresh rates. I
didn't know that till now.
Regards,
Harshal

Howdy,
I think he has got it. On both of my systems with LCD monitor, I had
to
lower the refresh rate to 60 Hz. Maybe some LCDs do better, but not
mine. One LCD will display a message saying the refresh rate is out of
range, but the cheaper one just stays blank.
CRTs could be ruined by running at too high a refresh rate. I have
never heard of anyone damaging an LCD monitor this way They just don't
work. The mecahisms are completely different. I don't see how you
could
damage an LCD monitor this way.
Good luck,
Ralph
