I've had great luck with my APC Office ES series.  The Linux-friendly 
software you can get from APC doesn't understand the cable that comes with 
it, but the open-source apcupsd supports it and works great.

Mine is a fairly small (350va), fairly compact, fairly inexpensive UPS.  It 
has kept me up through many thunderstorms here in Plano, where our power 
reliability seems to be, how shall I put it--extremely sensitive to 
atmospheric discharges.
