[NTLUG:Discuss] file "kpalet.c" causing problem

kpalet.c is a file in the build of signalscan. Line 480 in that file is
where the assert() was done. Since this shows up in other apps (google on
xvt_app_create), it is probably part of the xvt library.
It turns out that your app expects your display to be in 8-bit color mode.
